Funds will be used in three main areas. They will be used to reduce students costs for participating in robot competitions. Students typically have to pay for own travel related costs (food and lodging) for robot competitions. Some students involved in the program are low income students and have significant challenges getting the needed funding. Funds received from this program will be used to reduce travel expenses for the students. Funds will be used to purchase parts and materials for the robots. The team often has concepts they wish to try but lack the funding to purchase the items to try those ideas. This funding will allow students to have the ability to pursue those ideas and therefore increasing their learning. Funds will be used to develop improved marketing materials for the teams such as brochures, video clips, and posters. The materials will be used to solicit more student members, more mentor participation, and solicit funding to ensure continued success of the team.
The KC Robotics Team will use money raised to help further the mission of the program by: 1) investing in new technology to use on robots, 2) invest in new tooling to give students more exposure to tools used in the workplace, 3) investing in technology to allow students to more easily design robot systems and parts (such as a 3D printer), and 4) create some team and STEM marketing information to use in the community to make the community more aware of the program to broaden the interest and participation in the program.
