As a poor, painfully shy, nerdy, frequently moved Army brat, I blossomed when the founders of this theatre showed me a way of expressing, including, experimenting, encouraging all, and creating great art where less heard voices shone - even at its inception in 1985. I have spent my life at the intersection of social services, activism, and theatre. I know that my work as a drama therapist, group facilitator, theatre director and teacher, and arts based activist has fostered others not to hide their voice. Theatre truly does hold a mirror to society. It requires the best of us intellectually, artistically, and personally. We only create as a group and must learn from and support each other. Trustus responded to recent attacks on open minded inclusion with a full throated public statement about the worth of all people and the need to stand for right over wrong. We can really use support at every level as we live with some consequences of standing strong against hate.
