The Palmetto Leadership Academy is an extraordinary opportunity for South Carolina citizens to learn to be productive and effective members in their communities, especially as environmental stewards. This experience taught me about local government operations, boards, and commissions, and how to actively participate on these levels which can affect change in our communities and protect and promote conservation of our natural resources and landscapes, which are a huge part of what makes South Carolina such a special place. It also fosters an environment that is inclusive and representative of our state's diverse population and is a wonderful opportunity for networking and forming friendships rooted in a shared passion for conservation and a love for our natural environment.
