I come from a long line of military service. When my father was drafted during Vietnam, his father passed away right before deployment. A chaplain intervened, allowing him to stay home, most of his unit was later killed in action. That twist of fate gave me life. Though I never served, I’ve always honored that legacy. That’s why I support the Big Red Barn Retreat, where veterans and first responders learn to grow through trauma they have experienced. BRBR’s Warrior PATHH and Struggle Well programs teach tools for Post-Traumatic Growth, transforming pain into purpose. I’m also connected to this mission through my wife, who founded Serve & Connect after her husband was killed in the line of duty. I’ve seen the weight first responders carry. BRBR gives them the strength to continue serving stronger, healthier, and with renewed purpose. Join me this Midlands Gives Day.
