Fundraiser Story

When our son Michael was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, our world was turned upside down. The news was devastating, and we were filled with fear for what the future held for our child. But in the midst of that darkness, a ray of light appeared in the form of Happy Wheels, a non-profit organization that brings toys and joy to children in the hospital. The moment they walked into Michael's hospital room, and we saw the cart full of toys in the hall, we saw a smile and excitement on Michael's face that we hadn't seen since the diagnosis.
For our family, Happy Wheels became a symbol of hope and positivity during a difficult time. Their presence in Michael's hospital room brought smiles and laughter where there had previously been tears and worry. The simple act of giving toys may seem small, but it had a profound impact on his spirit and our family as a whole. We will forever be grateful for the joy that Happy Wheels brought to our son during his time of need.
Type 1 diabetes is a complex autoimmune disease that affects the pancreas, causing it to produce little to no insulin. It is a lifelong disease with no cure at this time. Because of this, it requires constant monitoring of blood sugar levels to make sure they are not too high or too low. The diagnosis was overwhelming, but seeing Michael's resilience and strength in the face of this challenging condition has been truly inspiring.
Happy Wheels not only brought joy to Michael in the hospital, but they also brought comfort and support to our entire family. Their presence reminded us that we were not alone in this journey, and that there were people out there who cared deeply for our son's well-being. We will forever be grateful for the love and kindness that Happy Wheels showed to our family during a difficult time, and we will always cherish the memories of the joy they brought to Michael when he needed it most.
