Upon completion of the training at MUSC, it was evident I had found my home. From the first day I rolled the Happy Wheels toy cart, the families I encountered and the smiles I witnessed left me knowing that the program was making a difference in each child we visited at MUSC. Over time, I began creating meaningful relationships with a number of patients and staff members. I took an interest in each patient's journey. As kids would see the cart coming, you could practically hear them down the hall "the cart is here!" The look on the faces of these precious kids, who at times are battling some tough illnesses, will just warm the heart of anyone who witnesses it. With the support of friends of Happy Wheels, it is possible for us to visit hospitals across the state. For me, there is no greater joy than rolling the cart for Happy Wheels. Connecting with my teammates, patients, families and staff at MUSC knowing we are in this together makes each day I return special.
