Fundraiser Story

In every community, there are unsung heroes—individuals who quietly step in to raise children who are not their own. These caregivers, often grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings, or close family friends, offer their love, homes, and resources to children whose biological parents are unable to provide stable care. At Kindred Hearts, we recognize and support these extraordinary people—kinship caregivers—who sacrifice so much to ensure that children grow up in safe, loving environments. Kindred Hearts is a community-based organization dedicated to assisting families who are raising children through kinship care. These are families formed not through traditional means but through necessity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to love. Kinship caregiving often happens in the face of crisis—whether due to parental illness, substance abuse, incarceration, or death. In these moments, caregivers rise to the occasion, stepping in without hesitation to do what’s best for the child.
