Fundraiser Story

In November of 2022, Blyth was diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth. A  few days later he tested positive for Flu. After a week of fighting the flu and symptoms only getting worse it was

discovered he was wheezing and tested positive for RSV. After another visit to the pediatrician,

we were sent for a chest x-ray. We were told a "mass like structure" was seen and needed to be investigated. We were certain that there must be something wrong with the machine or Blyth must have moved causing a shadow. After all he was only 16 months old and a very active little boy. We went straight to the children's ER and were taken directly to a room when we arrived. Blyth had a CT scan and we were told that Blyth had a mass on his spine. The next hours and days blurred together as we talked to specialists and Blyth had a biopsy of the tumor and his bone marrow. When all pathology reports came back it was official that Blyth had stage 2 Neuroblastoma. It felt as though we had entered an alternate universe and our family was struggling to understand how we had gone from being a "normal" family of 5 to living every parent's worst nightmare. Blyth is the youngest of 3 kids, he has an older brother Joseph (14) and sister Avery (10). During our many hospital stays, one of the bright spots was seeing the Happy Wheels volunteers and the cart of gifts. Blyth loved picking out a toy or book from the cart. He would get so excited when he saw the ladies pushing the cart and knew exactly what was about to happen! We will never truly have the words to thank everyone for this amazing organization. We are so thankful for God's blessings and for putting people and organizations in our path to help during this difficult time. It is by the grace of God that Blyth is in remission!!
