Happy Wheels, Happy Hearts!

When Piper was going through her cancer diagnosis, our family spent more time in hospital rooms than we ever imagined. Those days were filled with fear, uncertainty, treatments, and moments no parent is ever prepared for.  

One memory that will always stay with me was Piper's first day of radiation with sedation. If you've ever had to watch your child be put to sleep with propofol, then you understand a fear.  I can't even fully put it into words. If you haven't, thank your lucky stars. It was one if the hardest moments of my life.  Piper wasn't feeling her best that day, and everything felt heavy but then Happy Wheels came by. 

We picked out a Break The Ice game from their cart and suddenly her whole mood changed. She was excited and ready to play it right then and there. In that moment, for just a little while, she got to be a kid again - not a patient, not a diagnosis, just Piper.  

Happy wheels is a nonprofit organization that visits all 3 of the children's hospitals in South Carolina weekly, bringing toys, games, and books to children of all ages. They also visit the Cancer and Blood Disorders clinic, so children receiving treatment there can pick something special during some of their hardest days. 

It may seem like a small thing, but when your child is fighting something big, those little moments mean everything. They bring comfort, distraction, joy, and a sense of normalcy when life feels anything but normal. 

Happy Wheels gave our family light during some very dark days. They gave Piper something to smile about when she needed it most, and I will never forget that kindness. 

Now its our turn to help Happy Wheels continue bringing smiles, comfort, and hope to children who are fighting battles they should never have to face. Every donation helps provide encouragement to kids in the hospital. Because sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can carry a family though the hardest days.
