One day, each week throughout the year, Happy Wheels volunteers make rounds to each inpatient room with a decorated surgical cart filled with brand new books and toys. Happy Wheels visits approximately 400 children weekly at all 3 children's hospitals in South Carolina. Each child gets to pick out one toy/book of their choice every week for the duration of their admission. They get to keep the gifts and take them home!
Our sweet Landry will be NINE in August, and she was born with an extremely rare genetic mutation involving the UGDH gene...a condition know known as Jamuar Syndrome. This mutation has caused a lot of problems for our girl, but she fights mostly against intractable epilepsy which has now been labeled LGS, and other issues stemming from that. Through many hospitalizations, Landry and our family have been blessed by the Happy Wheels Cart at MUSC. During some of the most difficult seasons of our lives, this cart has brought us so much joy!!! The ladies who roll the cart up and down the hallways bringing joy to children and their families is truly what gets them/us through some of the hardest days they/we are facing.
It's time to give back to an AMAZING non-profit that does so much for so many.
Ready...Set...Let's GO!
