Weekend Warrior Against Hunger

Hi, I am Candace Berry-Vaughn, the Executive Director for OCCOC.  We are fundraising to address food insecurity in Orangeburg County. Hunger doesn’t take the weekend off. 1 in 4 children faces hunger every Friday until they return to school on Monday and are able to receive school meals. “Weekend Warriors Against Hunger” is one of our character educating efforts that helps feed around 900 kids every weekend. This is more than just providing meals-its about providing care and support every child needs to become their best selves. A hungry child cannot focus, learn or thrive.Orangeburg County Community of Character is devoted to character education -creating environments where integrity, empathy and ethical excellence are the defining characteristics of our youth, families, and the community at large. One of our community impacts is the Character Care Closet which assists citizens in need of basic neccesities to facilitate daily living.
