According to the latest research from the U.S. Conference on Poverty and Basic Needs, 1 in 2 families in South Carolina experience diaper need. Diaper need is inability to provide a child with an adequate amount of diapers needed (6-8 diapers a day - about 42-64 diapers a week). Not having diapers may lead to many family disruptors like the inability to attend childcare and results in some families to using items such as t-shirts in place of diapers. Additionally, not having enough diaper changes can cause infants severe diaper rash. With your generous donation of $50 a family can receive an approximately four-week supply of diapers.
Imagine this, a rural diaper, United for Baby, was in need of obtaining diapers and funds to help provide families with the necessary supplies they need to care for newborns, infants, and toddlers. Although the local community showed their appreciation by donating items, their needs grew and grew; soon the diaper bank found itself in dire need of diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, and other items required daily to care for an infant.
Every Day, rural community members who have a need inquire about receiving supplies for their infants and children; some must be placed on a waiting list until supplies became available. How will these families be able to send their children to childcare so that they can work?
Generous, kindhearted, and giving “uniters” like you show up, step in, and gift time, funds, and resources to help babies and their families obtain the item needed to keep babies healthy, happy, and dry.
*Diapers are purchased through a bulk buying program so that we can serve more families who have a need.
