There are things we carry in silence long before we find the words to name them.
For me, what happened was a secret that lived in the quiet spaces of my childhood: heavy, shapeless, and mine alone to carry. It wasn't until high school, when I finally spoke to a school psychologist, that I gave voice to what had been locked inside me for years. Even then, the real work, the inner work of healing, of reclaiming my story — took years more.
I tell you this not because it is easy, but because I believe deeply in the power of breaking silence.
And because I wish, with everything in me, that I'd had what The Hive offers when I needed it most.
The Hive is what a younger me desperately needed.
This organization exists for survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking — people who deserve more than silence and shame. The Hive walks alongside them with culturally responsive, survivor-driven support that centers dignity, compassion, and real pathways toward healing. It takes away the stigma. It says: you are not alone, and you do not have to carry this by yourself.
Had an organization like The Hive existed for me, my healing journey would have looked different. I am certain of it.
Since 2015, The Hive has walked alongside survivors — providing the kind of care and support that changes lives and restores hope.
Last year, The Hive faced an unexpected loss of public funding that threatened critical services. Our community answered. More than $559,000 was raised, ensuring survivors could continue receiving essential resources without interruption — and even making possible the launch of The Hive's Casita of Care, a community pantry serving those in need.
Now, The Hive is entering a new chapter focused on growth, sustainability, and expanding impact. You and I have a crucial role to play.
Will you join me in helping Fuel the Journey Toward Healing? I am asking for you to help me raise $310 in honor of my birthday on May 31st.
Your gift ensures survivors have access to the care, support, and hope they deserve. Make a donation today — and stand with survivors, like me.
