Why the Van Sant family loves Happy Wheels!

Happy Wheels holds a special place in our family's hearts. Our daughter Sallie was a regular patient at the children’s hospital in Columbia from 2009-2011. We got to know the Happy Wheels team very well during this time and became a part of the Happy Wheels family an even though it has been 15 years we still hear from them every year in memory of our daughter. 

During Sallie's long stays in the hospital,  we looked forward to seeing the Happy Wheels cart coming down the hall every week.  Getting to pick out a toy or a book from the cart is such a simple moment, but it means so much to a child who is sick. For kids who are sick, especially those spending long stretches in the hospital on a regular basis, that visit becomes the highlight of their week. It lifts their spirits in a way that’s hard to put into words. Not only does it mean so much to the kids but the parents as well.  It's a chance to see your child smile and light up for a little while when they are so sick.
