Webgyrlz Code

A nonprofit organization

We give females superpowers through computer science! Webgyrlz Code is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on computer science training for girls & women. Training includes web, game, app development, & animation. Our goal is to create a "safe space" for girls & women to learn to become tech innovators who can change the world, and grow leadership skills that will benefit the community. 2024 Highlights: ** AI Summer Camps, Langford Elementary, ** 2 Virtual Coding Camps ** 3 Fall Web Dev Camp

Founded in 2015, Webgyrlz Code is focused on educating girls & women in an environment where they feel safe to learn about technology and collaborate with their peers. They discover their superpower to become a creator, inventor, & an innovator of amazing ideas that can change the world of computer science. Through coding camps, partnerships with schools, and workshops we introduce computer science in a fun and effective way to students.

We remove obstacles to learning by providing all needed devices and equipment for in-person coding classes and workshops.

Programming courses include AI machine learning, web & app development, introduction to game development and animation, & WordPress training. Our 5-lesson web development training takes a student from a blank page to a fully hand-coded, one-page website using HTML5 & CSS programming.

In 2023 we launched out AI Machine Learning Curriculum and our Software Engineer Bridge program for adult females to get the support they need to become software engineers.

We also recognize the need to allow people of all demographics to have a chance to learn about the opportunities in computer science & we work with all in the community.

Testimonials

In 2015, a 9-year-old girl, who was not familiar with computer programming, attended our day coding camp. She is now a digital artist building a business. In 2023, she joined Webgyrlz Code as an instructor. Another student who attended our 2016 Scratch programming camp learned how to animate her original characters through code. She graduated from college with a degree in illustration & the goal of working in the animation industry.

Ridge View HS students learned WordPress development & launched the Cancel Hunger Club to support the community through this website.

Our first cohort of women learners in our 2025 Software Engineer Bridge Program is off to a great start in the Columbia Metro.
