Black Philanthropy Month reminds us that caring for one another has always been part of who we are. For generations, our communities have stepped up, shared resources, and made sure no one had to face life's challenges alone.
Today, that same spirit is needed more than ever. At Girl Get Up Society, over 88% of the girls and women who have reached out for support identify as Black, and nearly one in three are unemployed. Behind every number is someone searching for hope, healing, and a safe place to land.
That's why GGUS exists. This Black Philanthropy Month, we're coming together to ensure that more girls and women across South Carolina can access therapy, mental health programs, and the support they deserve, regardless of their ability to pay.
Because the legacy of Black philanthropy isn't just about giving. It's about making sure our community has what it needs to heal.
