The Ernest A. Finney, Jr. Cultural Arts Center inspires, celebrates, and shares with the community every aspect of art. From the visual arts to the artistry of the soil and from the folk art upon their walls to the 81 hand sewn dresses that hung throughout the longhouse on display to celebrate Florestine Kinchen as well as Helen Hill (the beautiful soul that found the pile of dresses on a curb in New Orleans). This Center has displayed true homemade love since it's opening. Please give so that the Finney Center continues to enrich the community.
Artist, JRenee was able to putt the finishing touches on her inspiring new pieces at The Finney Center, ready to shine at an exhibition.
The Finney Cultural Arts Center is where childhood meets creativity,
and the seeds of tomorrow are set gently into motion.
Each hand sewn dress tells a story carrying memories, care, and
intention. Florestine Kinchen’s work reminds us that beauty doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful!
Beautifully imperfect. Purposefully preserved. January 2026 Exhibit: The Beautiful Hands of Florestine Kinchen and Helen Hill
Nature is the ultimate artists. And the Finney Cultural Arts Center has created a Victory Garden that is being shared with the community.
Give today to help fuel the making of art, the keeping of community, living Black history and the ongoing generational celebration of music, visual art, poetry, dance, theatre, the culinary and garden arts, along with other community building and life sustaining activities that keep us holding on to joy.
Light is the best metaphor for Art - Nikky Finney, poet.
