Forging Strong Fathers and Families

It takes far more than DNA to be a father.

Fatherhood isn’t defined by biology—it’s defined by presence, sacrifice, and choice. A true father is the man who chooses to show up, to love, to guide, and to take responsibility for a child’s life—regardless of shared DNA.

In my own life, I have experienced what real fatherhood looks like. My dad made the intentional choice to be there for me before I even took my first breath. He chose to raise me, to teach me, to protect me, and to instill values that continue to shape who I am today. His example showed me that fatherhood is not passive—it is active, consistent, and deeply sacrificial.

Now, decades later, I still find myself reflecting on the wisdom, integrity, and love my dad modeled. The foundation he built in my life continues to guide me and shape how I live today.

This is why the mission of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families matters so deeply to me. There are countless children who need men to step into that role—not just as providers, but as present, engaged, and loving fathers. When fathers are equipped and empowered, families are strengthened, and entire communities are transformed.

I am eternally grateful for the father who chose me. And I am passionate about supporting and encouraging more men to make that same life-changing choice.
