Kelly Craig, a proud member of Fairfield Central High School’s Class of 1991, was a dedicated student-athlete, coach, mentor, and community leader whose impact continues to be felt by all who knew him. As a Griffin, he excelled in football before continuing his education at South Carolina State University on an academic scholarship, where he studied biology. Driven by his passion for the game, Craig walked on to the football team and earned a place on the varsity roster as number 83.

Following college, Craig devoted his life to coaching and mentorship. He served at several high schools, including Fairfield Central, where he began as an assistant coach. Known for his deep understanding of the game and his ability to connect with players, Craig was admired for balancing discipline with compassion—offering both “tough love” and unwavering support to his athletes.

Beyond the field, Craig was deeply committed to his community. He was a devoted husband and father, actively supporting his daughter’s athletic pursuits, and a man of faith who served as a trustee and choir member at Zion Hopewell Baptist Church. He was also involved in civic and social organizations, including Fidelity Lodge 33 and the Vicious Riders biker club.

Craig’s legacy is defined by his generosity, mentorship, and belief in others. He inspired countless young people to believe in their potential—not just in sports, but in life. This scholarship honors his enduring commitment to uplifting others and his lasting impact on the Griffin family and beyond.
