SC Economics was established in 1975 to help ensure that all South Carolina students leave high school with a sound foundation in economic principles, an understanding of our economy and how it works, as well as a strong understanding of personal finance. The council believes that the most effective way to make a difference in the lives of young people is by teaching their teachers how to make economic and personal financial decision-making skills come alive in the classroom, and to equip those teachers with excellent standards-based materials.
SC Economics provides thousands of free workshops, lesson plans, videos, curricula, and other resources to help teachers understand the fundamentals of economics and personal finance. Our workshops are taught by highly skilled professors and former teachers who use activity-based and problem-based teaching methodologies to help bring these topics to life in the classroom and make learning fun, engaging, and relevant to students.
"I'm excited to implement some new lessons into my classroom this year and use the resources provided." - Pickens County Teacher
"One of the most productive workshops I've ever attended." - Charleston County Teacher
"Loved all the activities and information. Will come to more SC Economics workshops." - Florence County Teacher
"Oh my goodness! The enthusiasm of that first buy is GREAT! I had busy room this afternoon and 5 little boys who are normally rowdy and obnoxious were on their chrome books comparing their portfolios and arguing over which stocks to purchase next! Love, Love it!" - Spartanburg County Teacher talking about the Stock Market Game
