Eligibility Requirements

501(c)(3) nonprofit in good standing with the IRS, has held that status for at least one year, and has filed at least one Form 990.

Headquartered or have a branch in one of the following South Carolina counties: Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda or Sumter.

Registered and in good standing with the South Carolina Secretary of State under the Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act. Questions about the Certificate of Solicitation should be directed to the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Charities Division.

Important Dates

New nonprofits may register for the Midlands Gives platform year-round; however, several important dates should be noted. The registration process takes approximately 30 days to complete. Registration will be paused from March 2, 2026, through May 31, 2026, in preparation for Midlands Gives Day 2026. Nonprofits that have not completed a registration form by March 1, 2026 will not be eligible to participate in Midlands Gives Day 2026. Registration will resume on June 1, 2026.

Registration: February 1 - March 1, 2026

Early Giving: April 1 - May 4, 2026

Midlands Gives Day 2026: May 5, 2026

Black Philanthropy Month: August 1 - August 31, 2026

Giving Tuesday: December 1, 2026
