Growing Hope

The mission of Growing Hope is to center children, support families, and brighten our communities with hope!  We believe in transforming child welfare with innovation and courage so every child and family is safer, stronger, and more hopeful.

Growing Hope provides an array of services designed to support and strengthen youth and families. Each year, we serve more than 2000 young people and their families. We provide traditional foster care, therapeutic and medically foster care.  Growing Hope also provides in-home and community based behavioral health services, the evidenced based Strengthening Families Program, and prevention-focused Family Resource Connection & Preservation Services.  Additionally, we operate a 20 unit transitional living apartment complex, Leaphart Place, for young adults who have aged out of foster care and are at risk of homelessness. The only one of its kind in all of South Carolina!

I am writing this letter in support of Leaphart and the work they do. Since becoming a resident, Leaphart has helped me with obtaining my permit, finding a job, budgeting, attending life skills appointments, and maintaining a stable living environment. Because of the support from Leaphart, my mental health has been stable. 

The staff and peer support have made a huge difference in my life. Before living on my own, I was living with my mother, and I was shot and was paralyzed from the waist down in an environment where I thought I was safe. Having stable housing through Leaphart has given me a sense of security and peace that I had been missing. Leaphart is my home. It has given me structure, support, and stability, and it truly feels like my second chance and move forward with my life.
