To meet the human and social needs in our community by uniting hearts, minds and resources.
New Day Transitional Housing has served 350 families, and provided rental assistance, deposits, and emergency shelter. We are currently serving 23 residents in 4 transitional shelter locations. Young Adult Housing (YAH) is serving 37 homeless youth ages 18-24, providing life skills, housing and mental health counseling. Mobile Nutrition Center distributed over 700,000 pounds of food, providing 546,850 meals to 911 families bi-weekly. Summer Food Program provided over 50,000 meals and snacks to children. Community Gardens has 8 locations with over 69 raised beds. Food grown goes to the underserved. Ready Readers serves over 500 students, placing tutors in all 9 elementary schools. The goal is to have students read on grade level. Homeless Outreach has assisted over 26 people with a stable recovery from drugs and alcohol. Fresh Start mobile unit provides showers and laundry services to over 50 Kershaw County residents every month.
Your investment will make a positive difference in the lives of those in need in our community. We also have two mobile programs. The first is a mobile shower/restroom/laundry unit. The second is a mobile grocery store unit. We believe that by scheduling and offering these services in remote, rural areas of Kershaw County, we will be providing county residents with another option to fill their basic needs.
