The Newberry Museum

Our mission is to protect, present, preserve, and promote the ongoing history and heritage of Newberry County and College. We aim to positively impact Newberry County and College as a destination site which encourages heritage tourism and growth while promoting educational and cultural opportunities for individual enrichment and understanding.

The Newberry Museum is a non-profit organization designed to showcase all of Newberry County and Newberry College. Not focusing solely on the past, the museum is designed to be an informational center serving to educate its visitors as to the many opportunities within the county and at the college. The museum hopes to serve as a place of learning for visitors of all ages, and we plan to enhance this purpose through educational programming for students and adults alike. The museum is located in a historic building that has served as the county post office and library, providing a glimpse into the past within a building that has immense historical value. With exhibits ranging from Newberrians in the military, to arts and culture, and the legacy of Newberry College, there is truly something for everyone. We have displays to entertain all ages, complete with dynamic touch screen monitors providing interactive digital maps, videos and slideshows. Our hope is that visitors, whether they are natives to Newberry or are passing through the area, will leave with the knowledge of the county's history while also being armed with the tools to have a positive impact of their own.
