South Carolina State Museum Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the South Carolina State Museum Foundation is to support and promote the purposes of the South Carolina State Museum. Through partnerships, comprehensive collections, exhibits and programs, the State Museum provides educational environments that enrich the lives of visitors.

The South Carolina State Museum Foundation was created in 1981 to support and promote the South Carolina State Museum.

Since opening in 1988, the State Museum has welcomed generations of guests from across the state and beyond. The museum serves as a caretaker of the state's collections in art, history, natural history and science and technology. It is also dedicated to sharing the stories of South Carolina through community partnerships across the state.

The State Museum's collaborative initiative, Reimagine the Experience (RTE), will revolutionize how guests engage with South Carolina history, science, and culture. By updating our permanent galleries and expanding our educational outreach, the museum will combine innovation and storytelling to share South Carolina's past, present and future. Through RTE, the museum is committed to making every guest interaction engaging, educational, and inspiring.

By supporting the State Museum Foundation, you are investing in the future of the South Carolina State Museum. Your support makes it possible for the Foundation to assist the museum in creating a world-class institution that showcases the people, places and stories of South Carolina
