Since 1931, the South Carolina Wildlife Federation has served as the voice for outdoor enthusiasts of every kind. Representing hunter and birdwatcher, teacher and backpacker, boater and farmer, gardener and angler, SCWF builds partnerships to ensure everyone can enjoy South Carolina's natural heritage and recreation opportunities for generations to come. Every year, SCWF hosts numerous education classes, the women's outdoor retreat, lobbies for our wildlife, and speaks to countless schools and garden clubs. In partnership with the National Wildlife Federation, SCWF helps individuals and businesses create certified wildlife habitats in their own backyards.
From the Blue Ridge Mountains to its Piedmont region and broad coastal marshes, South Carolina is blessed with an incredible diversity of natural resources that are both beautiful and accessible.
"As the granddaughter of Harry Hampton, it is a privilege to serve on the board of directors of SCWF. Many modern day conservationists refer to him as "the father of conservation in South Carolina." As a founding member of the SCWF in 1931, I know he would be pleased to know the organization continues to grow under new leadership and continues to conserve and restore wildlife and wildlife habitat. It is an honor to support the federation and be a part of its important advocacy work in South Carolina." - Mardie Faucette
"When I was growing up, my father, Harry Hampton, was passionately focused on the need to conserve our state's wildlife at a time when hunters had no bag limits. It made him very angry that some hunters were so greedy that they gave no thought to the fact they were depleting our precious wildlife. He would be so very grateful to know that the Federation he helped to found is continuing, through the tireless efforts and dedication of its staff, to conserve our irreplaceable wildlife." - Harriott Hampton Faucette
"Led by a group of very enjoyable, hard working, and very capable individuals, SCWF has provided me so many opportunities to enjoy the natural treasures of our state. They offered me educational opportunities in the classroom and in the field. We have hiked the forests and mountains of SC, have explored the Piedmont and Sandhills regions, and have wandered about our Lowcountry swamps and beaches. I learned about gardening, hunting, fishing, geology, birding, botany, reptiles and mammals, insects and tides, and so much more. I have met so many wonderful new people I now call friends. And, when I go home, they continue on, hard at work, teaching our youth about the natural world, assisting our hunters, fishermen, and landowners, and interacting with our legislators to guide the management of our natural resources so that future generations will have the treasures we now enjoy. My life is significantly enhanced by SCWF and what they have provided to me and my family. I look forward to many more years of participating with them. " - Scott W.
