Testimonials

My Scouting Story by Andy A., Elgin, SC

Scouts BSA has always been part of my life. My father was one of the first Eagle Scouts of Troop 287 in Columbia, SC. I joined scouting in 2016 as a high school freshman. On my first camping trip, I was inexperienced despite being one of the oldest scouts. Early on, I took on leadership roles, guiding my troop for two and a half years. Scouting taught me lifelong skills and boosted my confidence. It improved my social skills, helped me build lasting relationships, and prepared me for jobs as a lifeguard and swim instructor. Now, I look forward to serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor.
