The three aims of SCCAABE are: -Educate our communities -Promote STEM careers -Empower energy professionals.

The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE®) is a dynamic organization whose mission is to ensure the input of African Americans and other minorities in the development of energy policy & regulation, R&D technology and environmental standards.

The South Carolina Chapter of AABE® serves all 46 counties in South Carolina and seeks to achieve the mission of the national organization through the following goals:

-Educate and involve our members and community on energy issues;
-Provide the following types of value added programs to our members and the community:
-Professional Development;
-Mentoring/Networking;
- Community Service Projects.
-Encourage African American students to pursue careers in math & science fields through scholarships and mentoring.

These goals provide our membership and the community with tangible benefits that will enhance their knowledge of the energy industry, provide professional and leadership development opportunities, and support the education of our youth.

SCCAABE hosts an annual "Externship" for high school students where students are exposed to careers in the energy industry and in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
