Education and the development of opportunities for youth create ladders out of ignorance and poverty while allowing youth to explore their God given talents and abilities. Investments in Youth Services identifies and develops leaders who will become community impact leaders. Investments in education, access to the Fine Arts, and leadership development refine character, lift expectations, and allow self actualized vision. Youth Development Programs include an after-school reading program, character building programs, music education, summer camps, and more!
The Salvation Army of the Midlands summer camp program sponsors children to attend camp each summer at Camp Walter Johnson overnight camp in Denton, North Carolina.
Many underprivileged children in the Midlands rarely make it out of their ZIP code and would not ordinarily have the opportunity to attend summer camp out of state. At Camp Walter Johnson, children are fed three nutritious meals a day and are able to take part in exciting outdoor activities with other children in their age group.
