Palmetto Trail

About this Organization

The Palmetto Trail is a cross-state trail system made up of 33 passages that connect the mountains to the sea. The Midlands region includes 11 of these passages, each highlighting the diverse ecosystems found throughout South Carolina. Some segments pass through urban areas, while others wind through some of the state's most ecologically rich landscapes. The Trail's 416 completed miles span both private and public lands-linking parks, forests, towns, cities, countryside, and historic sites such as the State Capitol and Sumter Junction in the Wateree Swamp.
