Midlands Orphan Relief

The mission of Lowcountry Orphan Relief and Midlands Orphan Relief is to provide support services and aid to meet the needs of South Carolina children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect in the Midlands. The vision of Midlands Orphan Relief is that all South Carolina children are creatures of God who have intrinsic value and who represent the future of our nation. MOR believe that all children should be treated with respect and that their sense of self esteem whould be nurtured by providing them with the basic necessities in life.

MOR, located in West Columbia, SC, is dedicated to supporting children who are at risk and/or being abused, neglected, or abandoned in the Midlands region. The organization was established in 2021 by Lynn Young, its founder, who started Low Country Orphan Relief in 2003. Lynn Young served as a guardian ad litem, advocating for the rights of abused and abandoned children, which inspired her to develop ways to help these children regain their dignity, self-esteem, and find encouragement.
In response to the dire situations she witnessed, Lynn created the MOR Care Kit Program, providing children with care kits containing clothing, toiletries, school supplies, and other basic necessities to support them during these challenging times. Midlands Orphan Relief collaborates with over 50 non-profit and government agencies, schools, Department of Social Services (DSS), foster parents, kinship caregivers, shelters, and more to extend its support. In 2024 we provided care kits to over 1,500 children from newborn to 18 years old.
Also, the organization benefits over 30 Title I Schools with it's Just in Case Closet Program which provides emegency clothing & supplies to children in need.
