The Living Wright Foundation
About this Organization
We have a demonstration garden at Senate's End in downtown Columbia, which we cultivate using permaculture techniques suited to our River-basin ecosystem. We have distributed much of the produce harvested here to local churches. Additionally, we have two bee hives, a terraced hillside herb garden, and we conduct tours and host demonstrations on permaculture practices. Our second project is a community garden at 2505 Chestnut Street, Columbia 29204 (at the corner of Two Notch Rd. and Chestnut St.). Our first seeds were planted in October 2024. All harvest is being given to our neighbors. Our aim is to not only provide fresh vegetables to neighbors but demonstrate gardening and inspire others for more self-sufficiency. New projects in planning include a garden at St. Martin De Porres Catholic School and Church, which we plan to develop for the students and the congregation to tend. Our goal in each project is to provide fresh produce, demonstrate gardening and build community around the gardens.
