The Mason Foundation

Every child deserves to live their life to a 10... but not every child gets that chance.

The Mason Foundation was created to remove financial barriers so children can participate in sports and outdoor activities. Being part of a team, stepping onto a field for the first time, learning something new outdoors… those experiences build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging that can shape a child for life.

Our “why” is deeply personal. Mason was a vibrant, energetic 10-year-old who truly lived life to the fullest. He found so much joy on the field, in competition, and simply being outside with his teammates and friends. Sports weren’t just something he did, they were part of who he was. After losing Mason, we knew we wanted his legacy to live on in a way that reflected the life he loved so much. The Mason Foundation was born from that desire, to give other children the same opportunities, joy, and sense of belonging that meant everything to him.

Because of donors like you, we’ve been able to say “yes” to children who otherwise would have had to sit on the sidelines. Yes to the athlete who needed cleats to step onto the field. Yes to the child who wanted to try something new but didn’t have the equipment. Yes to the moment a child realizes, “I get to be part of this.”

We serve K–12 students by providing grants on a rolling basis to help cover costs like registration fees, equipment, uniforms, and other participation expenses. Families can apply at any time through our website. While we are based in Lexington, South Carolina, and have a strong focus on serving the Midlands, we proudly support children across the United States.
