Keep the Midlands Beautiful

The mission of Keep the Midlands Beautiful is to educate, inspire, and empower citizens to improve the places where they live, work, and play through litter prevention, recycling, and beautification. 

We do this through 7 Litter Prevention programs, 5 Recycling programs and 1-2 large scale Beautification projects per year.

We are a small organization making a big difference in the Midlands with the help of over 6,500 dedicated volunteers each year and YOUR financial help!

Testimonials

In 2024, we obtained $30,000 from Melius Forum and Keep America Beautiful, partnered with Central SC Habitat for Humanity and recruited 100 volunteers to improve the safety and appearance of 11 homes in Columbia's Martin Luther King neighborhood. All homeowners attended a four-hour class on how and why to maintain their properties in order to make their homes less attractive to criminals. We offer the full two-day version of this class for free to everyone in the area each year.

In 2025, provided supplies for 6,737 volunteers for 817 litter pickup events to help remove 217,964 pounds of litter! We also added 2 beautiful murals to Cayce and Swansea and provided nearly 500 trees to citizens and businesses in Batesburg-Leesville to offset the loss due to Hurricane Helene We collected 2500 pairs of shoes during our annual shoe drive and more.
