Heart of Columbia Chorus is a dynamic community of women dedicated to advancing the musical art of barbershop harmony through education, performance, and competition. But we are so much more than a chorus — we are a sisterhood united by music, friendship, and joy.
We are real women, singing real harmony, building real friendships, and having real fun. Our members come from every stage of life — career professionals, retirees, students, stay-at-home moms, and grandmothers. Our ages span seven decades, and our backgrounds are wonderfully diverse. What brings us together is our shared passion for a cappella, four-part barbershop harmony.
Under the direction of Jamy Claire Archer, we are committed to continuous growth and musical excellence. We work hard to sing well, perform often, and keep learning. Vocal instruction and music education are vital parts of every rehearsal, helping us refine our craft and elevate every performance.
Our mission extends beyond our rehearsal space. Heart of Columbia Chorus exists to serve our community through song. We perform at local events, host shows, and compete annually — proudly representing our region while sharing the joy and artistry of barbershop harmony. Every performance is an opportunity to connect, uplift, and inspire.
Your support during the Midlands Gives campaign makes all of this possible.
Donations directly fund music education, professional direction, rehearsal space, costumes, competition expenses, and community outreach. Most importantly, your gift helps ensure that the arts continue to thrive in the Midlands and that women of all ages have a welcoming place to grow, create, and belong.
When you give to Heart of Columbia Chorus, you are investing in more than music. You are supporting confidence, connection, leadership, lifelong learning, and the power of women raising their voices together.
I love the Heart of Columbia Chorus because it has so much to offer. Thursday evenings are dedicated to honing our musical skills with creative vocal excercises and rehearing fun and lively uptunes and emotional ballads. The membership is diverse and there is a genuine spirit of sisterhood" - Delphine Bigony
