Friends of the Irmo Branch Library

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library is to assist the Irmo Branch Library as it works to increase library services, provide easier access to library resources, increase community awareness of library services, and support and develop trained, knowledgeable staff.

The Friends of the Irmo Branch Library was founded in 1989. Since it's inception the organization has been 100% volunteer based. We support the Irmo Branch Library when appropriated funding is unavailable for youth and adult programs. We assist with honorariums for guest speaks, provide employee appreciation perks and cover the costs of small prizes and snacks for events held in the library. Our intent is to keep the free events in the library free by covering all the little things that the library can't purchase. We also support scholarship opportunities for youth volunteers, working in the library.

Founded in 1989, the 100% volunteer-based Friends of the Irmo Branch Library supports the Irmo Branch Library both with money, when appropriated funding for youth and adult programs such as the popular Summer Reading programs is unavailable, and with volunteer help as needed for programs. We assist with honorariums for guest speakers, provide employee appreciation perks and cover the costs of small prizes and snacks for events held in the library. Our intent is to keep the free events in the library free by covering all the little things that the library can't purchase. We also support scholarship opportunities for youth volunteers, working in the library.
