Food for the Soul is a Christ - like ministry providing food and shelter for those in need in Kershaw County.

Food for the Soul is a non-profit organization that provides food and shelter for the homeless in Kershaw County. Our Emergency Shelter is open year-round 24/7 for the homeless of Kershaw County. We also offer stranded traveler services to assist folks in getting to their intended destinations. Residents can stay up to 90 days while they get back on their feet; during this time we are working with each individual to assess their needs so that they can achieve their goals for starting their new journey. Services provided for the homeless include support and referral services, Financial Stability, Job Readiness Counseling and other case management services as needed. Our residents come to us with many needs. We also provide residents with clothing and hygiene supplies during their stay with us. Our Love on the Go program provides hot lunches at three parks in Kershaw County. We also serve takeout meals at our door. All meals are provided free of charge. At Food for the Soul, we realize that no matter what your situation is, we are always open to helping families in need of food and shelter. Homelessness and hunger does not discriminate and neither do we.

The husband is living with dementia, and while the wife was doing her best to care for him, she was understandably overwhelmed. Adaptability is crucial in these challenging times, and with the funding we receive, we are able to respond to the varying needs presented to us.
