The Friends of African American Art and Culture (FAAAC) is an affinity group of the Columbia Museum of Art dedicated to promoting African American art and culture. As a philanthropic, membership-based organization, FAAAC supports the museum's mission to educate, enrich, and inspire by increasing engagement with African American art, artists, and cultural traditions.
Our values are rooted in inclusivity, education, and cultural enrichment. We strive to create opportunities for community members to connect with the diverse history, creativity, and contributions of African American artists through dynamic programs, lectures, and exhibitions. By fostering dialogue and cultural appreciation, FAAAC aims to build a stronger, more connected community.
FAAAC serves a diverse community, focusing on audiences that have historically been underrepresented in museum spaces. The community includes individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about African American culture, with particular emphasis on engaging African American residents and cultivating intergenerational connections.
