The mission of the Carolina Wildlife Center (CWC) is to establish harmony between humans and wildlife in South Carolina while instilling an appreciation for nature. We rescue, rehabilitate, raise, and release injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife and promote conservation of wildlife through education, outreach, and training. We provide compassionate care to wildlife affected by natural and human activity and strive to educate our community on how best to co-exist with wildlife.

Our main program areas are rehabilitation and education. CWC rescues, rehabilitates, raises, and releases sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife and educates our community on how best to coexist with wildlife through our Wild Wonders program. In addition to our wildlife patients, we have several education ambassadors (animals who are not able to be released because of their injuries) who reside at the Center and are taken out to schools, churches, civic organizations, and public events to teach our community about the importance of responsible human interaction with wildlife and our responsibility to maintain the healthy balance of nature. A healthy and sustainable wildlife population is essential to the quality of life in our community. With the help of our education ambassador animals we are teaching our state's children and adults how to co-exist in harmony with our wildlife neighbors. Through interaction with our education ambassadors and our summer camp program, Camp Wild Things, we have introduced thousands of school children to the wildlife that lives all around them, dispelled misconceptions about these amazing creatures, and instilled in them a sense of stewardship for nature.
