Our mission is to offer a home exclusively for the purpose of providing a Christian, charitable, and educational home, with love, training, understanding, guidance and to meet the spiritual, as well as physical needs of boys in need of assistance.
Boys Farm, Inc. is a private Christian children's home for boys in need of hope and healing. Boys Farm was established in 1960 by the Rev. W.D. Shealy and his wife, with the motto "building boys rather than mending men". We offer long-term comprehensive care in traditional single-family homes with full-time houseparent families. Boys Farm meets the immediate physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of the children in our care by providing the framework and foundation necessary to develop into healthy and productive adults. We provide a unique family-oriented model of care that is designed to provide the structure and support needed to help those we serve heal, grow, and thrive.
Each child we serve is unique and incredible, and the opportunity to see their growth and development within a healthy, safe, and supportive environment is unparalleled. In addition to the ways we serve at-risk youth, the families we support through providing this level of care are greatly benefitted with the opportunity to focus on gainful employment, stable housing, further education, and improved quality of life. Our programs produce generational change and individual and family success.
As Boys Farm continues to expand our Adventures in Academics Program, the results have been glowing with consistency improved academic performance resulting in an average of 70% of our students achieving honor roll each quarter! Three of our students were inducted into the National Beta Club this past year, and many more have entered into honors and AP classes.
With a heart of developing healthy, contributing members of society we are excited to celebrate many successes of our alumni. While for many, a measure of success is being the first family member to graduate high school with a diploma, or a life that is free of substance abuse, there are many more success stories such as alumni who have gone on to serve our country in the armed services post-graduation. We celebrated with one of our alumni this past year who just got married and is currently serving as the marketing director of a ministry that has long supported Boys Farm. Our Campus Life Manager, Jon Wooten, is celebrating 14 years of giving back to the ministry of Boys Farm after graduating, and he and his wife Megan have just welcomed their third (biological!) child into their family! Another alumni is currently completing his Doctorate at the University of South Carolina in the Counseling field, preparing to give back and serve others to help them in their journey.
But it doesn't take some "monumental" success to make a testimony. This past Founders Day, one of our alumni visited for the first time after graduating. Seeing his joy, his thankfulness, and his excitement to be back "home" was a tremendous blessing, and an active testimony to the impact that Boys Farm has in the lives of those we have the privilege to serve.
