The Arc of South Carolina

A nonprofit organization

The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.

At The Arc of South Carolina, we proudly serve more than 3,400 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the state. We tailor our services to each person's unique needs and goals, ensuring that supports are truly person-centered and promote independence, self-determination, and meaningful community life through comprehensive case management.

Beyond case management, we provide educational and outreach programs for individuals with disabilities, their families, supporters, and the wider community. Our advocacy efforts play a vital role in addressing systemic challenges-such as reducing waiting lists for essential services, sustaining funding for families, and strengthening community awareness and inclusion-so that every person has the opportunity to thrive.

Testimonials

"I can't express how wonderful The Arc of South Carolina's event at the Columbia Airport was. Having twins with autism is challenging, especially when it comes to travel. This experience gave me valuable insight into what I need to work on to make future trips possible. I have a long journey ahead to Greece, where my in-laws are too old to travel, and this event gave me hope. The twins loved being on the plane, especially taxiing on the runway. It was such an emotional and amazing experience-it even brought tears to my eyes. Now, I'm excitedly planning a test trip, and wherever we go, it will be our own adventure!"
