Arc of the Midlands

A nonprofit organization

The Arc of the Midlands emphasizes community integration, person-centered planning, and self-determination. Our goal is to support and help all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve recognition and acceptance as valued members of their communities.

The Arc is the largest community-based organization advocating for and serving people with I/DD and their families. We encompass all ages and more than 100 different diagnoses including autism, Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, and various other developmental disabilities. The Arc of the Midlands provides numerous statewide contracted services and grant programs including but not limited to intake assistance, employment services, and companion programs. The Arc@Work™ provides corporations and government agencies across South Carolina with an array of products, services, and support to effectively transition individuals with I/DD into the workforce in community-based jobs at competitive wages. We are leading the way in developing innovative workforce solutions for the public and private sectors by connecting employers with talented employees with I/DD and supporting the recruitment, on-boarding, and retention process that increases the diversity, productivity, and quality of their overall workforce.
