In 2025 Acercamiento Hispano will mark thirty years of service to the Latino Community and South Carolina. We strive to fulfill our mission by reaching out to the Latino community and offering advocacy and programs that respond to daily issues (health, safety, discrimination, workforce development, linguistic and cultural barriers) that affect them. Specifically, Acercamiento Hispano advocates for Latinos facing educational, social, economic, cultural, and health disparities to improve the quality of and access to, the services that are already available, while consistently focusing on community outreach, networking, and collaborating with other organizations to find solutions to Latino problems and concerns. Acercamiento Hispano has established itself as the premier Hispanic outreach organization and has extensive experience in implementing programs that are geared toward the needs of the Hispanic population in South Carolina. We operate within an eight-county area in the Midlands of South Carolina including Edgefield, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, and Saluda Counties with limited operations in others.

Among other programs, we have a community playground/garden development project next to Christ the King Lutheran Church in West Columbia. Funded by CCCF and the Lutheran Synod, the land has been transformed into a place where members of the surrounding community are beginning to feel a sense of community belonging, where they feel comfortable and safe. It offers them a new, well-developed recreation area for their children with the latest in playground equipment.
