The Sumter Family YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Since 1912 the Sumter Family YMCA has been devoted to the well-being of every person in our community. We are a member driven nonprofit organization that is so much more than a gym. We are a health and wellness organization whose mission is to back each individual's personal mission with our own.
We are a place where members, regardless of their stage of life, have a place to belong. Most importantly, the Y is a community working together to strengthen and uplift one another in spirit, body and mind.
Your financial support allows us to address critical community needs, provide access and lower health risks. We invite you to learn more about the Sumter Family YMCA so together, we can do more.
Help Support The Sumter YMCA's New SENIOR CENTER!
Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of watching this new Senior Center facility take shape. What began as a vision has now become something real. For many seniors, the greatest challenge isn’t just health… It’s isolation and loneliness. Too many are at home, disconnected, and missing something we all need - a real, face-to-face connection. This center was created to provide that.
It’s a place where someone may walk in alone but will walk out with a group of friends. It’s a place where screens are traded for conversations, and empty moments for meaningful connection. It is truly a place for belonging, purpose, and community. YMCA’s are known across the world for providing programs and services across the lifespan from ages 6 weeks and beyond. This Senior Center is the first designated YMCA Senior Center in South Carolina—something that speaks to the leadership and vision of this community.
This is a new chapter in the history of our YMCA. We are proudly standing on the shoulders of those who came before us - those who took bold steps to make sure we would have this opportunity today. It is now our responsibility and great honor to carry this YMCA’s legacy forward to serve our community in new and meaningful ways. Your donation Through Midlands Gives is a great way to support the ongoing mission of the YMCA and our dedication to Senior Adults in the Sumter Community!
Help Send A Kid To Camp!
YMCA camps gives parents peace of mind while they are at work. The program assures that the learning, fun, and character-building experienced during the school year, continues into the summer months. The activities are designed to keep your child’s mind and body active while nurturing the Y’s core values: caring, faith, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Camp Mac Boykin
Campers will experience classic outdoor adventure at Camp Mac Boykin, nestled on 55 beautiful acres of woods, water, and open space. The camp features a ropes course, cabins, ball field, and a natural swimming area with water based activities that encourage exploration and fun. This traditional outdoor camp focuses on building friendships, learning new skills, and enjoying rugged summer fun in the great outdoors. For nearly 75 years, Camp Mac Boykin has created meaningful memories, with generations of campers returning as counselors in training and staff.
Each day is filled with nature education, arts and crafts, messy games, Ga Ga, and opportunities for adventure, including overnights. Campers grow in confidence, independence, and teamwork while making lifelong memories. We will host four overnight opportunities this summer for those attending Camp Mac Boykin.
C.I.T. – Counselors In Training
The Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) program at Camp Mac Boykin is designed to help teens build leadership skills they can use throughout their lives. CITs learn how to work effectively with children while developing responsibility, communication, and teamwork skills. Through hands on experience, training, and mentorship, CITs assist counselors in day camp programs while gaining valuable leadership experience. Participants must attend the required training date to ensure they are prepared and confident in supporting campers and staff.
Your donations through Midlands Gives Helps Support These and many more programs for Youth and Teens in our Community!
