SC Shakespeare Company

The SCSC's mission is to produce professional theatre productions with an emphasis on the plays of William Shakespeare; to enhance SC's cultural fabric with two free park productions year for our community, unify our diverse population, foster a culture that is will thrive on the performing arts, provide educational programs in our schools that empower and illuminate active interest in language, art, and history, and cultivate an audience that reflects SC's rich diversity.

The SC Shakespeare Company has been bringing diverse communities together for the past 24 years by presenting 2 annual full-length Shakespeare productions a year.
The SCSC is a conscious reflection of NYC's renowned Shakespeare In the Park series, which for decades has offered these classic plays from the greatest playwright in the western world. SCSC is SC's only professional theatre for Shakespeare. The unique feature of these shows is that they bring together people of all ages and walks of life: families, students of all ages, professionals from diverse backgrounds, our military, & people from under-served communities.The productions are FREE to the public. The company is comprised of professionally trained theatre artists and actors-in-training. Our events have enhanced the cultural offerings of our city & helped to accelerate the renaissance of downtown Columbia. The SCSC has always been aimed it's work at being a major factor in local tourism, by providing out-of-town visitors a cultural experience normally can only bee seen in larger culturally affluent cites across the US.
