Second Saturday

Second Saturday is a 501(c)(3) non-profit service ministry founded from Jesus' words that the most important commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind and the second most important is to love your neighbor as yourself (Matt 22:37-39). Second Saturday demonstrates our love for God and our neighbors by showing compassionate love for widows and the orphans (the fatherless) in their need (James 1:27). The ministry service performs repairs on the homes of widows, single-parents, the elderly, disabled, and those who have served us - veterans and first responders. Our mission will ensure they are warm, safe, and dry.

The vision is to see the mission of Second Saturday seeded through all churches and the methodology used in other ministries supporting discipleship. Helping churches figure out how to do Church "stuff. Perhaps they have lost or never had the practice of serving their community. This model and methodology can work for any service ministry with appropriate modifications. Second Saturday started out supporting widows but it has seeded other service ministries:
• Mercy Meals -cooking, freezing, storing family dinners to distribute to people in need (Matt 25:35-45)
• Door-to-door evangelism -knocking on the doors of the neighbors during "Go!" events inviting people into fellowship to meet the working team and have lunch and pray with them)
• Prayer Walking- Walking and praying for safety, protection, and blessings in the neighborhood prior to "Go!" events like 2nd Saturday (Job 1:10)
• Children's Mobile Ministry (Arts and crafts with biblical focus for the volunteers' children at "Go!" events like 2nd Saturday (Prov 22:6)

Testimonials

Second Saturday has served over 47 individuals in the last 3+ years with in excess of 3000 services hours. There is no cost to the recipient. Recipients have no financial qualifications. There are no paid employees, all work is done in service to God and for His glory. 100% of all donations go to materials and tools to service those in need.

If $1 comes in via donations $1 goes out in service work materials.
