SCVets Care Foundation

The SCVets Care Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote animal welfare and the human-animal-veterinary bond in South Carolina. The Foundation achieves this mission by assisting its surrounding communities through its unique programs.

To fulfill its mission the organization has implemented the following programs:

Pet Vet for Seniors Program: Provides low or no cost healthcare to qualifying senior citizens. Regular vaccinations, check-ups, and limited surgical procedures are offered through this program. Pet Vets for Seniors was first initiated in 2015. 

South Carolina Veterinary Reserve Corp (SCVRC): SCVRC recruits and trains volunteers to assist with animal rescue when disasters occur. The SCVRC’s training provides hands-on training in equipment use and disaster procedures.

The SCVets Care Foundation received an email from a resident in Loris, SC requesting financial assistance for cremating her 19-year-old cat, Oreo, who had passed at home. The cat was bottle raised by her autistic son, Michael, who was having a tough time with Oreo’s passing. SCVets Care was able to quickly approve the remaining funds needed to get Oreo’s ashes home to his family. “Y’all are a godsend”, said Michael’s mother.
