SCVets Care Foundation

The SCVets Care Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing animal welfare and strengthening the human–animal–veterinary bond across South Carolina. The Foundation fulfills its mission by supporting local communities through a range of targeted, high-impact programs.

To carry out this work, the Foundation has developed several key initiatives:

Pet Vet for Seniors Program 
Launched in 2015, this program provides low- or no-cost veterinary care to qualifying senior citizens. Services include routine vaccinations, wellness exams, and select surgical procedures, helping ensure that financial limitations do not prevent seniors from caring for their pets. 

South Carolina Veterinary Reserve Corps (SCVRC) 
The SCVRC recruits and trains volunteers to support animal rescue and care during emergencies and natural disasters. Participants receive hands-on instruction in disaster response procedures and the use of specialized equipment, strengthening the state’s capacity to protect animals in times of crisis. 

Scholarship Program 
The Foundation also invests in the future of veterinary medicine by providing scholarships to students at select universities and technical colleges, helping to cultivate the next generation of veterinary professionals.

Testimonials

The SCVets Care Foundation received an email from a resident in Loris, SC requesting financial assistance for cremating her 19-year-old cat, Oreo, who had passed at home. Oreo was bottle raised by her autistic son, Michael, who was having a tough time with his passing. SCVets Care was able to quickly approve the remaining funds needed to get Oreo’s ashes home to his family. “Y’all are a godsend”, said Michael’s mother, who gave permission for Oreo's story to be told.
