Ronald McDonald House Charities Columbia, SC creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families by keeping families together when their child is in a position of exceptionally compromised health.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia, SC serves as a "home away from home" for families who have children receiving critical care at Columbia-area hospitals. Our mission is to "keep families close" during some of their most challenging times & to meet all of their needs so that their sole focus can be on the care of their child. Last year alone, RMHC Columbia was able to save families over $1.1 M in lodging, food & transportation.
RMHC Columbia, SC consists of 2 cornerstone programs: Ronald McDonald House, located next door to Prisma Children's Hospital, offers 26 private guest rooms for overnight stays for families while their children are receiving treatment. The House has a full kitchen, dining room, living areas, a full laundry room - all stocked by the organization. There is zero cost to stay at the House alleviating families of the financial stress & pressure of long-term expenses associated with hospital stays.
The second program is the Ronald McDonald Family Room, located on the 1st floor of Prisma Children's Hospital. The Room is a place of respite where families can come down and have a cup of coffee, snack, quiet moment before returning to their child's side.

RMHC Columbia was my baby girl's first home! We lived there for 6 weeks while my 2 yr. old son was going through radiation. I was pregnant at the time, had my baby in Columbia, & took her back "home" to RMHC so he could continue treatment. All of the staff are great, especially Ms. Liz! She would help us by playing with our son, holding our newborn and always making sure we had everything we needed. For 2 years after his treatment ended, we had to go back every few months for checkups & she made sure they always had a room open for us.
