Palmetto State Abortion Fund

Palmetto State Abortion Fund helps people access abortion care when they cannot afford it. We provide direct financial support to clinics and cover the real costs of access--travel, lodging, gas, food, and coordination--because a right means nothing if you can't actually reach care. 

Since launching in 2021, PSAF has helped over 2,000 people access abortion care across South Carolina. The need is urgent and ever growing. South Carolina's 6 week ban forces most patients to flee the state. Travel alone can add hundreds of dollars to someone's cost, and depending on medical history and gestational age, appointments range from $600 to $25,000. 

At the same time, other funding sources are shrinking--meaning abortion funds like PSAF are often the last lifeline between someone and the care they need. We step in when no one else will by paying clinics directly, coordinating logistics, and ensuring that patients are not navigating this process alone.

Every year, the top fundraiser for Midlands Gives is typically a crisis pregnancy center, which is a fake clinic designed to delay and mislead people seeking abortion care. A few months ago, the founder and executive director of that organization shot someone outside of a real abortion clinic. 

This is the reality that we are organizing in and operating under. 

The question this year is simple. What would it look like if the top fundraiser was an organization that actually helps people access real healthcare? What would it look like if we chose care over coercion? 

When you give to PSAF, your donation funds abortion care and our caseworkers who make it possible for people to get the support they need. Every dollar helps us keep our intake line open and continue to say yes to someone who has been told no too many times.
