$30,000 Goal

The Partners Mentoring in Engineering and Computer Science (PMECS) summer technical workshop is geared to expose gifted students to the field of Engineering and Computer Science during two, one-week programs at USC (Columbia Campus). We recruit from students transitioning from Middle to High School. We also reach out to young women in order to increase their roll in these fields of study. Once in the Freshman Class, students are eligible to attend the program for three more years.

PMECS is dedicated to increasing the number of high school students pursuing careers in Engineering and Computer Science. By providing funding for housing, transportation, supplies, and food, we ensure that eligible students can attend our annual five-day workshop at the USC College of Engineering, Columbia Campus, with minimal to no cost to them or their families. Many of our alumni have successfully graduated as electrical, chemical, civil, and mechanical engineers. We believe that by offering these opportunities, we are fostering pathways to success and strengthening our communities.

Testimonials

Recently, we've had a student to successfully attend the program and has now graduated from Clemson University where he majored in Chemical Engineering on a full scholarship. Shantell Butler, one of our earlier students, graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and works with the program during the summer. Cedric Keitt, the Freshman/Sophomore director, is a Civil Engineer with the Office of Regulatory Staff. He once was a student in the program.
